OOCEMR

In last week’s blog, I told you I attended PIMDCON in Dallas.

As promised, I will be sharing learnings from PIMDCON for the rest of October (and maybe into November – there was so much great content!)

A small group of physicians met prior to PIMDCON for our semi-annual Momentum MD mastermind group.  During this 2-day retreat, we had the opportunity to get a LOT of amazing coaching. One of the coaches uses a lot of tools from Tony Robbins.

We were taught the exercise of OOCEMR:

O=Outcome

O=Options

C=Consequences

E=Evaluate

M=Mitigate

R=Resolve

OUTCOME – What do you want to achieve and why?

OPTIONS – List ALL the options… write them down (write down the entire exercise – getting thoughts out of the brain and onto paper is important!).  List options that you believe in and also those that maybe seem far-fetched or unlikely.  The more options the better but make a goal of listing at least 3.

CONSEQUENCES – for each of the OPTIONS you listed, now list the upsides and downsides for each of them

EVALUATE – For the upsides and downsides listed, consider the impact if it were to occur and the potential that the consequence will occur and use this to evaluate each option on a deeper level – write this down!

MITIGATE – For all the downsides, consider how you might influence or mitigate these downsides … these ideas might help you consider new ways to address an option.

With each of these steps, continue to evaluate each option using this algorithm.

RESOLVE – Once you’ve gone through the above steps for each option, you should have significant clarity on the option that will generate with the most certainty the OUTCOME you are looking to achieve.  Make the commitment to move forward with this OPTION.

This tool will help you get past analysis paralysis and make a decision that keeps you moving forward!

I’ll be using this tool as I look to end 2024 with some important financial and career decisions!

This would be a great tool to use as you consider a career in biotech/pharma as well!
