2025 is HERE!!! New beginnings!
Happy New Year!
My hope for all of my readers is that you have had a wonderful start to the new year; if instead, it has been challenging, I am sending my thoughts and will share a practice that has helped me in trying times –
Gratitude
In our most difficult times, coming back to what we are grateful for is a powerful reset tool.
The beginning of 2025 has been a reflective time for me.
Quiet and slow…
I’m reflecting on how I’ve served physicians through The Pharma IndustryMDCoach over the last 4 years and how I want to continue serving. I’ve not landed on the answer to that question completely and will continue to spend time reflecting on this. When I’m content that I know the answer, I will share! (Not to worry, I will continue to coach physicians that are looking for their fulfilling career transition to pharma/biotech in some manner!)
Now, on to new beginnings…
I am starting a new Chief Medical Officer position at a private biotech company!
As I mentioned in a previous blog about 2024, I’ve been working (very) part-time for most of 2024 and an opportunity arose at a really exciting company.
What’s exciting?
The TEAM!
I’ve known the CEO for a couple of years; we met through a personal connection related to her son’s medical diagnosis and my work in neuromuscular diseases. I’ve admired her transition to CEO over this time and I’m psyched to have the opportunity to work with her.
The rest of the team is also highly esteemed… intelligent, kind, fun, patient-focused, dedicated, driven – all qualities I am looking for in colleagues.
The SCIENCE!
Throughout my career in biotech/pharma, I’ve gravitated toward innovative therapies (as opposed to a new generation of an older technology, the 2nd or 3rd drug in a class, etc). The science is really cool and the technology opens up the possibility to treat MANY diseases with certain mutations.
As the CMO, this opens up the possibility of thinking creatively about drug development and clinical trial design, as well as regulatory strategy! All things that will provide an intellectual challenge I enjoy.
The STAGE!
Over the course of my career, I’ve niched into “start-up” companies in early stage development. I gravitate towards companies that I am able to influence the very early stages of clinical and regulatory strategy and companies that I play an important role in raising money (“Fund-raising”) for the company’s ongoing success. Often, these are private companies and that is the case with this company as well.
I am sharing what is appealing to me about this new job to help you think about what you want in a new role? What do you want from your career transition? Knowing what you want is important as you apply for specific roles and especially as you interview and meet potential hiring managers and colleagues.
What do you want?
Take some time to consider this question…really consider it – contemplate, journal, say it aloud
I look forward to sharing more about this new role throughout 2025!
OK! One announcement that I have decided for The Pharma IndustryMDCoach in 2025…
I have been writing a blog on a weekly basis for about 4 years and I’ve decided to publish the blog two times per month moving forward.
There is SO MUCH content in the blog tab on The Pharma IndustryMDCoach website and I invite you to spend time reading through those posts!
Great content will continue to be available on the first and third Mondays of the month!
Here’s to 2025!
Happy New Year!
